About Gift Aid
Just by agreeing to gift aid, you could help the World Owl Trust further. The Government Gift Aid Scheme allows charities to claim back basic rates of income tax on all donations made by supporters who pay UK tax. Therefore, if you pay UK tax, WOT can benefit financially at no extra cost to yourself.
The Trust can claim gift aid on donations,adoptions, sponsorship, ie World Owl Trust sponsored walk and memberships (as long as the membership is for yourself).
The Gift Aider needs to be the person paying for the item or donation and also a UK Tax Payer and able to declare that they have paid an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount of tax that that all the charities or community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) that they donate to who will reclaim gifts on their behalf. Other taxes such as VAT or Council Tax do not qualify.
By ticking the Gift Aid box you will effectively make your purchase a declaration which is shown as part of the checkout process. You can cancel your declaration at any time. You must notify the World Owl Trust if you change your name or address and if you no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.
